ABOUT VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA
Vietnam Veterans of America has a national membership of approximately 81,000, with 617 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Philippines. VVA state councils coordinate the activities of local chapters.
CHAPTER 223 AND THE COMMUNITY
This Chapter is a part of a group of veteran service organizations that are very active in the Sonoma County Veterans' Community. These veterans' groups and their associates are dedicated to helping all veterans. These organizations participate in veteran and public events throughout the year, sharing resources and supporting each other by contributing both funds and volunteers.
Chapter 223 and Purple Heart Chapter 78 have booths at the Wednesday Night Farmer’s Market throughout the summer where they disseminate information on topics concerning veterans and their families such as Agent Orange and PTSD. Other veteran posts and chapters host important events throughout the year that need our support.
As veterans, it is important to work together to achieve mutual goals and maintain ties to the community. VVA Chapter 223 will always be an active part of this community and this page is here to share information on all veterans' organizations in the area and to serve as a resource for our veteran community
ABOUT REDWOOD EMPIRE CHAPTER 223
Chapter 223 is one of the leading chapters in Vietnam Veterans of America. VVA is the only national Vietnam veterans’ organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families.
Chapter 223's members are active on both the national and state level. VVA Chapter 223's goals are to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans. We work closely with the Sonoma County veteran community to promote these goals.
The Chapter, together with the Redwood Empire Food Bank, has operated a food giveaway for more than 20 years. We welcome veterans, their families, and non-veterans to our general meetings. Join the discussion -- be as active as your time, talents, and interests allow and become involved with issues that affect our community .
