2014 VVA California Convention

The Vietnam Veterans of America California State Convention (CalCon 14) was held in Fresno, CA from July 26th to July 29th. Vietnam veterans from across the state gathered for Cal Con 14 in Fresno. Pre-convention activities got underway on Thursday, June 26. Delegates arrived at the hotel formerly known as the Holiday Inn Fresno Downtown Convention Center. Delegates were greeted with a welcome reception sponsored by the California Veterans Benefit Fund. The convention got underway Friday morning with an opening ceremony in the Sierra Grand Ballroom. North Bay Veterans Resource Center

With the ribbon cutting ceremony at their new location, the North Bay Veterans Resource Center on July 10th opened its doors to veterans and local community partners. The reception was well attended on a warm evening, with refreshments served by the Smokehouse Bar-B-Que Bistro. Welcoming and opening remarks were made by Superior Court Judge Gary A. Medvigy. Judge Medvigy, who is also an Army Brigadier General, spoke to veterans' issues in the Judicial System. With little fanfare, short and sweet, VVA 223 member Peter Cameron and James Larson officiated at the ribbon cutting as a good number of invitees looked on.
